Technical Writer/Editor

  • Sales Support: Extended my support to SMEs and clients by developing service whitepapers, sales decks and other marketing content tailored to pushing our company products and strengths. Was placed in charge of sales collaterals for US and Indian clientele (2021-23).

  • Marketing Content: Worked beyond my job description to extensively collaborate with SMEs and COOs towards developing a strong content strategy for technical content as well as social media.

  • Technical Blogs: Shortened the blog delivery cycle from the proof stages to being published online due to a succinct writing style that puts in-depth research, technical analysis, and call-to-action into easy-to-comprehend language.

  • Partner Services: Coordinated with the company’s global partners to develop co-branded whitepapers tailored to their specific requirements, scheduled monthly partner requirement follow-ups, as well as handling backend services. (2021-23)

  • Content Development: Simplified otherwise jargon-heavy ransomware reports with in-depth data analysis that is coherent and cohesive.

  • Website: Developed content for the company website for both CSW and Securin.

  • Infographics and Design: Ideated creative visuals for blog infographics, memes for social media, and social media posts for all marketing content output.

  • Improved Textbooks: Study texts were chosen carefully with a deep understanding of the pedagogical plans, learner’s age and level of understanding, concept and theme, teachability of the text, and life skills that can be extrapolated from each lesson.

  • Editing Processes: Improved the quality of editing, copy-editing and proofreading of textbooks, keeping guidelines in mind, with major contributions towards content enhancement to fit the correct pitch, ensuring compliance with local and global editorial standards as well as curriculum frameworks, and retaining coherence and cohesion of core themes.

  • Commissioning & Handling Authors: Commissioned textbooks to selected authors for content development. Reviewed the content received from project authors and ensured it was in keeping with the project blueprint as well as curriculum guidelines.

  • Commissioning Illustrators: Also identified and commissioned illustrators for each book handled, while maintaining a warm working rapport with them. Went above and beyond our job description to create vision boards for the particular series with a detailed art brief for illustrators. Worked closely with them over the next few months, keeping the focus on the learner at all times.

  • Negotiating Copyright: Negotiated copyright payments with domestic and international authors, publishers and agencies.

  • Negotiating with Typesetters and Printers: Commissioned typesetters and printers for each book project handled and maintained contact from the manuscript stage to the final printed books.

  • Working Under Pressure: Handled multiple projects simultaneously, handling more than one level of both printed books and e-books of every project, to manage tight turnaround deadlines and schedules without compromising on quality.

  • Team Management: Managed a small team of Assistant Editors who required constant mentorship and guidance. Managed clients and illustrators as well from 2015-2020.

  • Go-to-Market Support: Designed one-of-a-kind product marketing material like brochures and teaching aids for marketing staff to pitch our books to teachers, with a close understanding of USPs and a focus on the strengths of the series.

  • Suggested New Technologies: Introduced and implemented new-age technologies such as AR-VR and Virtual Learning Environment models to enhance classroom teaching for both students and teachers. Produced content for such smart classrooms with a focus on interactivity with gamification of exercises, using 3D-modelled augmented reality platforms to help children grasp complex concepts.

  • Sales Support: Extended my support to sales and marketing staff by conducting in-house and on-site sales and product briefings as well as conducting school visits for market survey reconnaissance and sales workshops.

Internship

  • Proof-read and copy-edited 7 books, which included Dahanu Road by Anosh Irani and Cupid’s Corpse Does Not Drown in Water by Subimal Misra. Some of these books are still in print and available in stores.

  • Worked with the design team and designed a page layout for a section of a business edition book titled The Revised Kamasutra by Richard Crasta. In-page design acknowledgement was included on the back cover.

  • I also worked on ideation and design of the cover for the 2010 first edition of Fault Lines by Raghuram Rajan.

  • I also helped ideate and design the cover for Dahanu Road by Anosh Irani.
